(English Abstract)
In this paper, we propose a Raptor code-based multicast HTTP adaptive streaming system. Unlike the existing TCP-based HTTP adaptive streaming system, the proposed system transmits video data using a multicast transmission to improve the scalability of the service provider. The server transmits video data to the multicast group for all video quality using multicast transmission, and the client receives video data by joining the appropriate multicast group in consideration of the network and buffer status. The system adopts the Raptor code to ensure reliable multicast transmission, and the server transmits not only video data but also redundant data using a multicast transmission. The server differentiates the data transmission rate of FEC redundant data, so that the adaptive video bitrate can be performed at the client. The proposed system was fully implemented in the real network environment for performance verification, and it was verified that the proposed system can provide high-quality multicast HTTP adaptive streaming services compared to the existing system.
