최근 멀티미디어 콘텐츠의 영향력이 점차 커지면서, 자신이 소유한 모바일 디바이스를 통해 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공받고자 하는 사용자의 요구가 증가되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 향후 홈 네트워크 시스템에 제공될 모바일 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 데이타베이스 설계기법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 먼저, 서비스 운용 시 요구되는 에트리뷰트들을 추출하여 릴레이션을 구축하고 데이타베이스를 디자인한다. 특히, 데이타베이스 운영 시 발생할 수 있는 중복이나 갱신이상 현상을 막기 위하여, 릴레이션에 존재하는 다치 종속성(MVD, Multi Valued Dependency)을 밝혀내고 정규화(Normal Form) 이론에 기반 한 데이타베이스를 디자인을 제안한다. 실험에서는 다양한 정규형을 만족하는 분할된 릴레이션의 질의 수행결과를 통해, 데이타 중복현상과 갱신이상의 발생을 비교, 분석함으로써, 제안한 방법이 효율적임을 입증한다.

(English Abstract) |
Recently, users who want to be provided mobile devices, such as PDP, PMP, and IPTV connected wireless internet, with multimedia contents are increasing due to an influence of multimedia contents. In the paper, we propose an efficient database design method for managing mobile multimedia services on home network systems. For this, we build relations using attributes required while providing multimedia services, and then design a database. Specially, we propose a database design method based on normalization theory to eliminate redundancies and update anomalies caused by a non trivial multi valued dependency in relations. In the experiments, we compare and analyze occurrence frequencies of data redundancies and update anomalies through query executions on the relation decomposed into normal forms. The results reveal that our database design is failrly effective.
