This paper presents a model and its analysis for a distributed database system with data replication. Two different replication control algorithms were considered in conjunction with the two-phase locking: the primary copy approach and the quorum consensus approach. The model was developed using decomposition appoach to examine the hardware resource contention and data contention at each stage of the transaction processing. A Queueing model was used to reflect the contention of competing transactions. |
