Deploying Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS) in wireless networks is a prominent solution to enhance the signal strength of mobile users in which the reliability of the data transmission is promised to be guaranteed. In an environment where the direct line of sight is not available for the data transmission between mobile users and base stations, IRS elements can reflect the data signal indirectly between transmitters and receivers so that the data transmission is maintained. However, the main challenging issue in IRS-enabled wireless networks is that the receivers are not able to collect the channel state information of the transmitters since the direct signal transmission is blocked. In addition, IRS elements are basically the reflecting elements so that they are unable to collect the channel state information as well. In this regard, we propose a distributed resource management approach for IRS-enabled beyond 5G where a massive number of mobile users participate in the uplink transmission with the help of IRS.
