(English Abstract)
The improvement of network performance is one of important issues in cellular networks, where both the deployments of micro eNB(evolved Node B) such as pico and femto eNBs and the supports of multi-carrier enable such performance improvement. Generally, because eNBs using the same carrier can interfere with each other, which carriers are used in each eNB can affect the performance of both the users and overall network. Therefore, the efficient carrier selection method is necessary. However, the existing work did not consider the improvement of overall network performance. In this paper, we propose an efficient carrier selection method which is able to increase the overall network performance. In the proposed method, an eNB estimates the network performance, which both the eNB and its neighbor eNBs can achieve, for every available carrier and then selects a carrier where the improvement of the estimated network performance is maximized. In order to estimate the network performance, each eNB maintains the interference information of each user in neighbor eNBs, carrier usage information, and so on. Via simulations, we found that the proposed method shows 10~30% higher throughput performance than existing method in LTE-A networks supporting multi-carrier.
