예비 디스크 기법(sparing schemes)은 RAID 5 디스크 배열의 신뢰성을 향상시키기 위하여 제안되었다. 예비 디스크(spare disk)의 사용으로 디스크 배열의 신뢰성은 다른 디스크들의 데이터를 이용하여 고장난 디스크의 내용을 예비 디스크 영역으로 재건하는데 소요되는 시간인 재건 시간 (reconstruction time)에 의하여 결정된다. 본 논문은 이중 패리티 예비 디스크 기법(double parity sparing)[1]과 기존의 예비 디스크 기법들에 대하여 재건 최적화 기법을 적용하여 재건 시간과 재건 과정(resonstruction process)중의 성능을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 측정한다. 시뮬레이션 결과는 이중 패리티 예비 디스크 기법중 모두 쓰기(write both) 방법이 최소 동작 (minimal operation) 최적화가 사용된 경우에는 재건 과정중 가장 좋은 성능을 보이는 패리티 예비 디스크 기법에 근접한 성능을 보이며, 재건 최적화 기법에 상관없이 가장 짧은 재건 시간을 가짐을 나타내었다. |

(English Abstract) |
Sparing schemes were proposed to improve the reliability of RAID 5 disk arrays. The usage of a spare disk makes the reliability of disk arrays dependent on the reconstruction time, during which data of the failed disk are reconstructed on the spare disk space using the surviving disks. Several reconstruction optimization strategies were proposed. Applying these reconstruction performance during reconstruction and the reconstruction times through simulation. Simulation results show that when minimal operation strategy is used, write both method of double parity sparing shows almost the smae performance with that of parity sparing which shows the best performance under reconstruction. It's also obseved that write both method has the shortest reconstruction times irrespective of the optimization strategies. |
