(English Abstract)
This paper proposes a method for ship recognition in an image. In general, recognition accuracy could be degraded due to variation in distance and/or angle during image capturing. To cope with this problem, SIFT (Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm has been adopted in the proposed method. Through SIFT algorithm, if the sign of a ship enrolled in the database is matched with the same sign of the ship in a captured image, the name of the ship can be readily identified. A simple experiment shows that a single sign image can be used for recognizing the associated ship captured in various conditions.
