(English Abstract)
This paper propose a functional games for strengthening Non-verbal communication skills of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Non-verbal communication is a big part of our daily lives, Especially facial expressions serve as an important key point in our conversation with people. Nevertheless, It's very difficult for children of ASD to acquire the ability to understand each other's facial expressions or to produce a variety of facial expressions in the course of communication. In Korea, there are fewer programs to support children of ASD. To overcome this challenge, the paper proposes to use functional games (i.e. a game of creating facial expressions for an avatar, a game of matching facial expressions, and a game of finding a correct facial expression) to learn facial expressions in non-verbal communication. In addition, the functional games introduced in this study, such as "a game of matching facial expressions" and "a game of creating facial expressions for an avatar" games, were used to measure interest, difficulty, and persistence in these games by 167 users.
