(English Abstract)
Abstract - In this paper, we propose a practically realizable version of proportional fairness scheduling algorithm that can be applicable to the emerging broadband wireless access system with the multiple channels, each of whose channel quality varies with individual user, e.g., as in the band AMC mode of subcarrier allocation in OFDMA system. In order to circumvent the complexity of optimal multi-channel PF algorithm (which grows exponentially with the number of channels), we introduce a notion of the multi-phase predictive approach which can provide more proportional fairness than the slot-by-slot optimal multi-channel PF algorithm, even with much less complexity. Our simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach can provide more proportional fairness than the existing optimal slot-by-slot (non-predictive) algorithm, while its complexity grows only linearly with the number of users and the number of channels.
