(English Abstract)
In wireless sensor networks, various clustering methods have been proposed for improving energy efficiency of sensor network. Despite all these existing efforts, these methods may generate unbalanced cluster structure, which can lead to severe energy consumption of cluster head, and thus significantly reduce the overall lifetime of sensor networks. In addition, the existing cooperative communication methods such as CoopLEACH may waste unnecessary energy since its unilateral cooperative communication method does not take into account the distances between a sink and cluster heads. To address these problems, in this paper, we propose a novel method that transmits and collects data considering the density of nodes and the distances between a sink and cluster heads. Through extensive performance studies, we observed that our method is up to 2.7 times more energy-efficient than the previous methods.
