The analysis on interlinking between science and technology is highly required as the innovation activity on commercializing R&D results has been accelerated. This requirement could be met by securing interoperability between papers and patents, which are representative results of the R&D activity and the information between the two should be conjoined. In practice, the papers and patents, which are popularly utilized for analyzing technical competencies and trends on planning R&D strategy, have semantic relationships between them. However, the interoperability between the two classifications, is one of the key challenges since their basic classification hierarchies for the contents are quite different. Therefore, we designed a system interlinking between the two classifications for securing interoperability between papers and patents. The system is based on a mapping table including 182 mapping rules, which are grouped according to the depth in their classes in order to relate the paper¡¯s class to the patent¡¯s class. As a result, the mapping from patents to papers showed 89% of linked rate.
