(English Abstract)
It is expected that the vehicles are equipped with an external network connection in near future to provide various services. This will emphasize the secure collaboration between internal and external networks because the nodes in external network can offer malicious attacks or misbehavior. In this paper, we suggest a vehicular network gateway that is able to bridge the external and internal networks securely. We exploit the virtualization technology to isolate the system faults caused by the external network. We implement the network gateway that employs VirtualBox for virtualization and bridges Wi-Fi and CAN networks. The performance measurement results show that the virtualization adds overhead of 56% compared with a non-virtualized case. In spite of the worse performance, the proposed design has the significant potential to increase security.
