멀티미디어 DBMS에서는 질의 결과를 시공간 관계성에 따라 프리젠테이션하는 기능이 요구된다. 기존의 DBMS에서는 사용자 인터페이스에서 프리젠테이션을 전적으로 담당하였으나, 프리젠테이션을 효율적으로 처리하기 위해서는 객체 관리기와의 기능 분담이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 객체 관리 기능과 프리젠테이션 정보 관리 기능을 함께 제공하는 객체 관리기 OM2(Object Manager for Multimedia DBMS)를 제안하였다. OM2는 확장된 메타 클래스 SMC(Schema Managing Classes)를 제공하여 멀티미디어 객체의 시공간 정보를 저장, 관리하도록 하였으며, 저장된 시공간 정보를 이용하여 검색된 객체 인스턴스에 대한 출력 스케줄을 생성한다. 또한 멀티미디어 객체의 관리를 위해 질의 처리, 메소드 처리, 그리고 메모리내 객체 관리 기능을 제공한다.

(English Abstract) |
One major requirement for the multimedia DBMS is the capability to present the query result according to its spatio-temporal relationship. In conventional DBMSs, a user interface subsystem takes the responsibility for the presentation. However, for the efficient presentation of objects, it should be shared with an object manager. This paper proposes an object manager called OM2(Object Manager for Multimedia DBMS) which manages both objects and presentation information. It stores the spatio-temporal information of the multimedia object in the extended meta classes, SMC(Schema managing Classes), and creates the output schedule for the query result from the stored information. It also provides some other functionalities such as query processing, method processing and in-memory object management for the management of multimedia objects.
