Intra block copy (IBC) adopted in versatile video coding (VVC) is a coding tool for screen contents that predicts a block from reconstructed samples in neighboring region of the same picture. The reference block of IBC should be within a restricted region such as the coding tree block to be coded. By this restriction, block vectors always point blocks within the restricted region. Therefore, block vector predictors (BVPs) pointing blocks within the restricted region would be work well. This paper introduces AMVP and Merge candidate restrictions, by which only BVPs pointing blocks within the restricted region are used as the candidates. Experimental results show that the total encoding time saving is an average of 0.03% and the BD-rate decrease is 0.20% for low-delay P relative to versatile test model 3.0 with IBC.
