(English Abstract)
The cognitive radio is currently regarded as a promising paradigm to achieve efficient spectrum usage by allowing the coexistence of primary and secondary networks in the same bandwidth. The cognitive radio users sense the radio environment and detect the spectrum holes for transmission. And the primary network also works as if no presence of the cognitive radio network. In this paper, a symbiotic architecture is proposed to achieve more efficient spectrum usage and reliable transmissions for both primary and secondary networks. The primary user can request cooperative transmission from the cognitive radio user, benefited with the quality of its link. In exchange, the primary user allocates a part of channel time for cognitive radio link. Thus, instead of waiting and searching for the idle channel time of the primary networks, the cognitive radio user can also transmit in the symbiotic time slot with guaranteed link quality. The performance of the symbiotic channel model is analyzed based on the cooperation support of full duplex amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying at the cognitive radio user. Our simulation results show that under the proposed architecture, the primary link can achieve higher transmission rate with cooperation. With same amount of the transmitted information bits for the primary link, the cognitive radio link can obtain the channel time as much as 40% of the duration of the symbiotic time slot.
