(English Abstract)
In order to devise new strategies for the multiple query optimization problem, the first part of this report reviews two interesting approaches: query graphs and access plans. The first approach is appropriate for the identification of common subexpressions and the second one is for the construction of a global access plan. In the second part of this report, the multiple query optimization approach is extended to distributed database systems, and possible applications are identified. One application, distributed database snapshots are discussed because they are very usefrul as costeffective substitutes for replicated data. Two strategies are proposed for the support of refreshes and query processing on snapshots.
