The purpose of this paper is to analyze the performance of the 16 QAM system in EMI plus implusive noise environment. We have medeled Gaussian, sinusoidal, and rectangular interference as the types of EMI. In this paper, equations of the error rate have been derived, and the performances have been evaluated to as a function of carrier-to-impulusive noise power ratio (CNR), carrier-to-electromagnetic interference power ratio (CIR), impulsive index (A) and Gaussian component-to-impulsive component (%u0393´)
With the result of ananlysis, it is found that Gaussian EMI produces the most significant performance degradation among the ghree types of EMI. Besides sinusoidal EMI produces more performance degradation than rectangular type EMI. Therefore, without knowing the type of EMI, it is safe to regard it sas Gaussian EMI when designing a communciation system.
In addition, we have known that the error performance is degraded when impulsive noise is getting strong and furtheremore is not improved significantly even through the EMI becomes weak. It describes that the impulsive noise affects dominantly to the eprformance degradation in digital cimmunication. |
