(English Abstract)
The PLC is a data communication technique using the power line. However, in these days, it is not put to a practical use in the field of lighting and home appliance controls and rarely seen in electromagnetic communications. Since PLC has a downside of increasing data loss rate as it utilizes high-voltage power lines and pass through transformers generating noises, the application is rather limited. Nevertheless, in a regard that PLC is a low-cost communication solution using power distribution networks and more recently, for the smart metering system. it has been studied widely. The instability in a noisy channel environment demands scrupulous simulation and modeling[1] to implement PLC based solutions, and through recent developments of the Samrtgrid systems and Internet of Things(LoT), PLC is being discussed as an important technology and regarded as a new data communication method. Both WiFi and PLC(Power Line Communication) are being spotlighted as the core foundation technologies but we've focused on PLC in this paper. In the study, we designed and implemented a Smartgrid system based on the model which employed PLC Router node and PLC node. As a simulation environment, OPNET Modeler PL 14.5 was used but refrained from using QoS to ensure that all the traffics do not have the same processing priority. Performance evaluation was carried out with two scenarios, and although the same path was set for each, the speed of PLC link was not. All other variables were the same in these scenarios. As a result, packet losses and delay have varied in accordance with the speed of the PLC link and this shows that the reliability and speed of PLC link are the vital factors in Smartgrid system configuration.
