Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) and Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) are two key technologies in 5G networks. Integrating NOMA into MEC systems can enhance the efficiency and performance of computation offloading. Numerous studies on NOMA-MEC integration have been proposed to minimize the latency and power consumption for MEC offloading. In this article, we briefly present an overview of MEC-NOMA integration. Specifically, we summarize state-of-the-art studies on the interplay between MEC and NOMA, including three categories: minimizing latency, power consumption, and balancing latency and power consumption. Finally, we discuss the underlying challenges and open directives for future researches.
