Parizeau (CANADA) We are pleased to announce the 8th IWFHR, which will take place August 6-8, 2002 in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada (in the week prior to ICPR'02 in Quebec City). The IWFHR series of workshops provides a forum for researchers in the areas of on-line and off-line recognition of handwriting, pen-based interface systems for the processing of handwritten documents and forms in all languages. The program committee invites the submission of papers for inclusion in the workshop. All accepted papers will be published in the workshop proceedings, and the authors of accepted papers will be invited to present their work in the form of oral presentations or posters. All papers and presentations will be in English. Some topics dealt with in the past include: ? Handwriting Recognition Techniques ? Preprocessing ? Systems and Architectures ? Linguistic Post-Processing ? Performance Evaluation ? Multimedia Systems ? Image Retrieval ? Motor Aspects ? WWW Applications ? Multiple Sources ? Segmentation Techniques ? Handwriting Identification Submission format: Papers are limited to 10 pages. Please use LaTeX, with style sprocl.sty. However, note that for the final proceedings a different LaTeX style may be required. Paper submission in PDF form on-line.
