To: ICDAR Mailing list members Please note that we've put together a set of exciting and scientifically relevant competitions for the forthcoming ICDAR. The competition areas include cursive script recognition (both on and off-line), page and table segmentation, and various text-in-scene (robust reading) problems. Some of these competitions have new datasets associated with them, which you can download. Some competitions are very simple - for example anyone with a binarizer and a character classifier could enter the Robust Character Recognition competition! For more details see: http://algoval.essex.ac.uk/icdar/Competitions.html For each competition that you plan to enter, could you please let the competition organizer know of your intention to enter before March 1st. This will help us measure the level of interest in the competitions, so that we can allow an appropriate amount of time for the competitions session in the conference programme.
