(Korean Abstract)
Decoy databases consisting of random or reversing peptides are used for identifying high confidence peptides in tandem mass spectrometry. It is possible that peptides in decoy databases are also included in target databases. Such a redundancy makes protein identification difficult to infer particularly presented proteins in samples. In this paper, we compared two widely used decoy database generation techniques – 'pseudo shuffling' and 'pseudo reversing'. In the regard of redundancy in decoy databases, we propose to use 'pseudo reversing' decoy database generation technique.
